Canoga Park builds landscapes for six veterans

What's Happening at LandCare

On November 29, the Canoga Park branch partnered with Homes4Families, a local non-profit organization that builds homes for low-income veterans and their families, to create new landscapes for six recently constructed houses. The 15-man LandCare crew worked all day to install fresh plants, mulch, and sod to complete these homes.

Branch Manager Dan Dworsky recognized an opportunity to get involved with the project when a Homes4Families director explained to him that the organization was struggling to get volunteers and donations to finish construction. “A friend of mine works for Homes4Families and he turned me on to them,” Dan explained. “The team decided it was an opportunity for us to get involved with a great cause.”

Homes4Families focuses on an ‘enriched neighborhood’ model to not only build affordable communities, but also to promote self-sufficiency and integration into the middle class.

The six families for whom the houses were built were able to move in earlier this week, just in time for the holidays.
