CommunityCare Day 2018: Sacramento assists students with urban gardening

What's Happening at LandCare

Our Sacramento management team worked with students from Sierra School at Eastern Extension to assist with the school’s Community Outreach Urban Gardening Project.

The LandCare team donated and installed 10 yards of fresh vegetable soil and demonstrated how to use various hand tools to till and prepare the land for planting. The team then helped the students plant hardy winter varieties, including lettuce, snap peas, and carrots, while instructing them on proper spacing and watering techniques. The new garden will be used throughout the school year for interactive learning activities and other outdoor projects.

The Sierra School at Eastern Extension is a non-public elementary and high school offering alternative education to students with special needs. To learn more, please click here.
