Earth Day 2018 around LandCare

What's Happening at LandCare

Sunday, April 22 was Earth Day, a day to celebrate sustainable practices and positive environmental action. Four LandCare branches seized the opportunity to make a difference, partnering with customers and nonprofits within their communities to donate their time, plants, and horticultural knowledge.

Nine team members in Orlando volunteered their time to plant trees for Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit resort in Florida dedicated to providing cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses.

The Charlotte team installed garden boxes at The Harvest Center, a local nonprofit that helps individuals affected by homelessness, poverty, or unemployment. The garden will be used to teach participants sustainable gardening practices and healthy living.

Phoenix donated and planted six trees at the property of a longtime partner.

Orange County South organized a trip to Bobbie Smith Elementary School in Long Beach, CA, to teach curriculum-based earth science classes to over 300 students throughout the day. Account Manager Megan Tejeda and Branch Manager Nicole Hill held six mini-lessons on topics such as plants and pollinators, beneficial insects, and vegetable gardening.
