SAN DIEGO, CA. – Open to first-generation college students who are children of LandCare team members, LEAF announces that 28 new students have been selected to receive scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year. This marks the largest group of new recipients since the program’s inception. Combined with returning scholarship recipients, the program will support 47 students in the upcoming school year.

“What drives us every day is knowing that we’re breaking generational cycles and opening doors that may have never been open before for these families,” said Camila Alvarez, LEAF program director. “When a parent tells us their child is the first in their family to attend college, or when a student shares that they’ve been accepted to their dream school, those moments remind us why this work matters so deeply. We’re not just funding education – we’re investing in the potential of entire families and communities. The ripple effect of one student’s success extends far beyond graduation day.”

Including the $110,000 in scholarships awarded this year, LEAF has now distributed $231,000 in scholarships since launching in 2022.

“Education has always been the foundation of opportunity, and we believe every child deserves access to it regardless of their family’s financial circumstances,” CEO Mike Bogan said. “Our team members are the heart of LandCare’s success, and supporting their children’s academic aspirations is simply the right thing to do. When we invest in these students, we’re not just supporting individual dreams – we’re strengthening the communities we serve and building a more skilled workforce for the future.”
