LandCare hosts BYU-Idaho students in San Diego

What's Happening at LandCare

LandCare managers recently hosted 25 horticulture students from BYU-Idaho at the Rancho Vista Corporate Center in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. to teach the group about a recent renovation completed on the property.

North San Diego Branch Manager Tom Williams and Director of Employee Development Cyndi Uelen led the students on a tour of the 67.5-acre campus, giving a brief history of the property and pointing out the changes LandCare made to the landscape. Tom engaged students in various discussions regarding plant science, like converting to a low-water use plant palette, drought stress, bio-retention, and tree pathogens and diseases. Production Manager Raul Payo added to the conversation with irrigation topics, like the advantages of a 2-wire irrigation system and utilizing decoders.

The group finished the day with lunch at the onsite cafeteria, where they mingled and played a few outdoor games.
